He said to meet him after work. He felt like buying me a good dinner. He wanted Japanese but I didn't expect it to be Nogawa. I was pleasantly surprised when he brought me to Le Meridien.
Knowing him (a little too well), the dinner would definitely be an omakase. That translated to a dinner with an exorbitant bill.
Being at Nogawa was a first for the both of us. As we waited for our first dish, we took notice of the pictures of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and the chef which were hung on the walls of the restaurant.
Chef Kelvin attended to us. We told him that we'd like to have omakase with only sushi and sashimi.
He dished out several items which were sooooo good. It's the season for salmon roe (ikura). And OMG, you have to experience the popping of fresh and tasty ikura in your mouth. It's sensational!!! And the sea urchine (uni) was amazingly fresh! Chef Kelvin served the uni sushi without the usual seaweed. Instead, he placed the sushi onto our palms and we ate from our palms. How cool!
We had alot of food that night. The sushi came coming. I had to signal to the chef that I couldn't stomach anymore. He commented I did well. Haha! He didn't expect me to eat so much. Heh!!!
I didn't manage to take pictures of all the food I had. But here are some of them... enjoy!
